On May 4th RHYTHM IS IT! was released with 18 prints in Spanish cinemas with its spanisch title ESTO ES RITMO!

RHYTHM IS IT! HITS THE NETHERLANDS AND POLAND
27 April 2006 will mark the launch of RHYTHM IS IT! in the Netherlands with two premieres in Groningen and Amsterdam days earlier:

Premiere on 22 April in Groningen, 2 p.m., Filmtheater Images, followed by a Q&A with Director Thomas Grube.
Premiere on 23 April in Amsterdam, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Ketelhuis and 3 p.m. in the Kriterion.
Op 22 en 23 april zal de inspirerende film ?Rhythm is it!? zijn voorpremière beleven, zowel in Groningen als in Amsterdam. Op deze dagen zal de regisseur van de film, Thomas Grube, aanwezig zijn om na de vertoningen al uw vragen te beantwoorden tijdens een Q & A.
Zaterdag 22 april wordt Rhythm is it! om 14:00 uur in filmtheater Images in Groningen vertoond.
Zondag 23 april zal er op drie tijdstippen een vertoning van ?Rhythm is it? plaatsvinden in Amsterdam: om 13:00 en 19:00 uur in het Ketelhuis zijn, om 15:00 uur in Kriterion.

RHYTHM IS IT! receives 2 German Film Awards 2005
On the 8th of July the German Film Academy has announced the winners of the German Film Awards 2005 at the Berlin Philharmony. RHYTHM IS IT! has received two of the important Awards. Besides the category ?best documentary? the film has also been awarded for ?best editing?. The producers ANDREA THILO, THOMAS GRUBE and UWE DIERKS as well as the editors DIRK GRAU and MARTIN HOFFMANN we present at the ceremony to receive their golden Lolas. With more than 550.000 admissions in its 45th week RHYTHM IS IT! is still present in German cinemas with 50 prints. We are very proud, happy and strongly motivated for the future! A big ?thank you? to everyone that has supported us in the last years during this intensive and wonderful project!

Audience Prize for RHYTHM IS IT!
RHYTHM IS IT! has received the audience prize as top film at the 23d Minneapolis St.Paul International Film Festival winding up last weekend. It beat out "Kungfu Hustle," 2nd on the list from among l60 films and 60 countries, with 37.000 persons having attended.

Schiller Award for Simon Rattle and Royston Maldoom
art used for improving the characters of young people
Mannheim (ddp). The Schiller Prize of the City of Mannheim has ben awarded to the conductor Sir Simon Rattle and the choreographer Royston Maldoon on account of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra's notable educational project 'Le Sacré du printemps'. The protagonists are to be honoured on the 9th of May 2005, the second centenary of Schiller's death, as the city announced on Monday. It justified the allocation of the prize by saying that Rattle and Maldoom had managed in an exemplary manner to use art for improving the characters of young people.
The dance-drama project 'Le Sacré du printemps' was staged by Sir Simon Rattle together with the choreographer Maldoom and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra within the framework of the educational project which Sir Simon Rattle himself had launched. With young Berliners from various social classes and mainly without any prior training, they worked out a choreography to Stravinsky's ballet, which they then presented to a thrilled public. The exciting process of preparation, from the rehearsals to the premiere, is recorded in the film 'Rhythm is it!', which is being shown in cinemas throughout Germany.
The Schiller Prize of the City of Mannheim is awarded once in four years to outstanding personalities from the arts and society. Award-winners have included Frank Castorf, Friedrich Dürenmatt, Golo Mann, Peter Handke and Alfred Grosser. The first Schiller Prize was awarded in 1954 to Mary Wigman.

RHYTHM IS IT! receives Bavarian Film Award (Bayerischer Filmpreis) for best documentary 2004
We are very happy to find that even in its 19th week of showing RHYTHM IS IT! is thrilling cinema-goers all over Germany. A very big thank you is due to our German distributor Pifflmedien as well as to Medienboard, FFA and BKM. On having already had 350.000 viewers, RHTYHM IS IT! is the most successful German documentary film of the year. This is largely due to the tireless mouth-to-ear propaganda of many RHYTHM IS IT! fans. Countless messages in the guest-book of the film website (www.rhythmisit.de) have deeply touched us and reveal the ongoing resonance and motivation which RHYTHM IS IT! inspires in viewers. It has given a hopeful and positive impulse to the present debate about education. Our heartfelt thanks are due to the many wonderful reactions.

Simon Rattle Accepts Germany's Comenius Prize for Bringing Music to Youth
The British conductor of the renowned Berlin Philharmonic, Simon Rattle, on Sunday [12 December] accepted Germany's Comenius Prize for inspiring interest in music among young people.
The award, which carries prize money of 25,000 euros ($33,000), has been presented since 1991.
The jury cited Rattle's educational programs with the Berlin Philharmonic since taking up the post in 2002, highlighted in the recent documentary film Rhythm Is It!.
Rattle said he would give the prize money to two men in Venezuela, José Antonio Abero and Wilfried Merle, who had developed musical and social welfare projects in the country over the last decades including founding more than 170 youth orchestras.

RHYTHM IS IT! - the SOUNDTRACK!
The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra thought up a very special present for Queen Elizabeth II on her state visit to Germany and her reception in the Philharmonic Hall on the 3rd of November. The queen was given one of the first pressings of the soundtrack to RHYTHM IS IT! with film-music by Karim Sebastian Elias and the first performance of Igor Stravinskys 'Le Sacré du printemps' by the Berliner Philharmonic Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle. Also on the CD are to be heard the Berlin 'Wickeds' with the RHYTHM IS IT! title-song VERSTECK DICH NICHT / DON'T HIDE! As a bonus it included Sir Simon's words to the orchestra during the first rehearsal of Sacré.
The soundtrack to RHYTHM IS IT! has been on sale as a CD since the 9th of November and as SACD (Hybrid) in 5.1 surround sound quality since the 15th of November. There is also a comprehensive booklet with many photos and texts like the words to VERSTECK DICH NICHT!
